Digital Production Cameras
The arrival of the HD PSC camera considerably changed the perception toward the use of Broadcast video cameras in the production of high end drama, documentary, corporate and even the lower end of the television commercials market previously the domain of 16mm film. This trend progressively developed until the arrival of 2K, and subsequently 4K, or higher CMOS equipped production cameras. This has ultimately all but dispatched 35mm from its once dominant position in filmmaking of all types, and is now delivering or exceeding 65mm capabilities. The new market for Digital Production cameras has seen new manufacturers such as RED, Blackmagic Design and others enter the market, alongside established names.
I am familiar with products from: ARRI; BlackmagicDesign; Canon; JVC; Panasonic; Panavision; RED; Sony; and others.
